Metallurgical analysis, fractography, hardness and chemical testing, and alloy identification on failed components and evidence parts.
Capabilities
ARA’s materials laboratory supports in-house investigations and is available to outside firms under engagement. Standard capabilities include:
- Optical and metallurgical microscopy for fracture-surface analysis and microstructure evaluation
- Hardness testing across the common scales (Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers) on prepared specimens
- Chemical composition analysis and alloy identification to verify material-spec compliance
- Adhesion testing (pull and peel) for coatings, adhesives, and bonded assemblies
- Chain-of-custody documentation for every specimen that enters the lab
Investigations originate with forensic cases built in-house, product-liability matters brought in by counsel, or third-party testing engagements from labs and manufacturers who need specialty capacity.
